In 2009 we of the East Mountain United Church in Edgewood, NM will celebrate 10 years of sharing with others in our community.
Each Sunday we collect items to take the Bethel Storehouse in Moriarty to share with others in the East Mountain area. To this date, we have arranged taking more than 40 lbs of canned food per month, probably about 6 bags of clothing, 3 bags of household goods, and 2 bags of toiletry items per year. In addition, we have taken furniture, toys, baby items, musical instruments, bicycle, and other resalable items for the Bethel Thrift Store.
We also supply school items for children in the East Mountains during the schools' drives for supplies. And at Christmastime, the congregation members and friends of the East Mountain United Church make and fill stockings to take to Bethel to share with children in the area. Over the years we have made and filled over 525 stockings. We hope to set a new record this year!
At Thanksgiving, we usually have adopted a family and provided them with dinner, and each year at Christmastime we adopt a family and provide them with dinner and gifts for each member of the family.

We also helped members and others pay utility bills, etc. so they can stay in their own homes.
Through our numbers we have never been large, we keep going, trying to reach out in God's name to others around us. God has been good to all of us, and we believe in sharing with others who are also God's children.
